VP’s Team of the Week: Twente leads Overijssel’s front, also PSV and Feyenoord

After round 28 of this Eredivisie season, the Overijssel is at the top of our Team of the Week. FC Twente impressed against PSV, while Go Ahead Eagles and Heracles Almelo recorded important victories over PEC Zwolle and Fortuna Sittard: Twente, Go Ahead and Heracles occupied seven of the eleven positions, supplemented by players from FC Utrecht, PSV, AZ and Feyenoord.

Koen Bucker (Heracles Almelo)
First choice Janis Blaswich moves to RB Leipzig after four excellent seasons, does Heracles already have his successor in the house? Bucker was allowed to keep against Fortuna Sittard on Sunday and in any case applied for a basic place, with an unfailing performance.

Quinten Timber (FC Utrecht)
Today’s FC Utrecht is no longer a shadow of the FC Utrecht from the beginning of this season, but Timber continues to play his matches unperturbed. It sucks that Michiel Kramer robbed him of the match winner just before time, but the youth international could still look back on a successful performance against RKC Waalwijk.

Gerrit Nauber (Go Ahead Eagles)
Feyenoord is happy every week with Gernot Trauner, but Go Ahead also has his German-speaking Kale Klets. The already almost safe PhD student has formally canceled Nauber’s expiring contract, but may still enter into talks with the central defender. During Sunday’s IJsselderby, he once again proved his worth in the center back.

Giacomo Quagliata (Heracles Almelo)
At Heracles they run away with the energetic Italian, the Vespa on the left flank, who can do much more than trot and buff. Jackie put Heracles on the right track against Fortuna Sittard on Sunday, with his first goal on the Dutch fields.

Philippe Rommens (Go Ahead Eagles)
Last season’s promotion came out of the blue, but Go Ahead is almost safe at the beginning of April, while rival PEC Zwolle has given an extra push towards the Kitchen Champion Division. Rommens is already doing well in 2022 and decided the IJsselderby with a great swipe.

Michel Vlap (FC Twente)
PSV did not know what it was going through against FC Twente, which grabbed the Eindhoven players by the throat and trumped on all fronts for half an hour. Vlap was the driving force and was rewarded with a goal in his best game of the season.

Joey Veerman (PSV)
But PSV eventually came back to 3-3, after Veerman initiated the beautiful comeback with a sensitive slide from distance. The Eindhoven team initially fell deep through the lower limit in Enschede and recovered well, but Veerman was indeed at the appointment.

Daan Rots (FC Twente)
We stay in Enschede for a while, where Daan Rots from Groenlo put the provisional crown on his first full Eredivisie season. The right winger was one of the absolute stars of the impressive FC Twente in any case: unstoppable and good for two assists.

Ricky van Wolfswinkel (FC Twente)
The vice top scorer of the Eredivisie should of course also not be missing. Van Wolfswinkel scored twice and also put all his energy into boosting the PSV defence. All the more impressive when you consider that the experienced striker got a stomach ache and was about to throw up…

Vangelis Pavlidis (AZ)
From relegation football with Willem II to European football with AZ: it was a big step, but Pavlidis has found his place in Alkmaar. The Greek was involved in all three goals against Vitesse on Saturday: the first he made himself, the second shot into his own goal under Pavlidis’ pressure by Jacob Rasmussen, the third fell after he forced a penalty.

Luis Sinisterra (Feyenoord)
Que si, que no, que Luis Sinisterra. Feyenoord bit into Willem II’s defensive wall for a long time, but of course it was the Colombian who brought redemption. The Legion can enjoy him for a while, because it must be very strange if Sinisterra does not want to make a top transfer after this season.
