Again exciting scenes ahead of the Red Bull Grand Prix of the Americas to be held this weekend in Austin. As it turns out, there are transport problems again, just like a week ago; two of the five cargo planes are delayed. However, the problems seem less serious than a week ago in Argentina, the last materials are expected in Austin on Thursday afternoon.

The MotoGP paddock is facing equipment transport problems for the second consecutive Grand Prix weekend. A week ago, the first day of the Gran Premio Michelin de la República Argentina had to be canceled due to the fact that one of the five cargo planes en route from Indonesia to Argentina suffered technical problems and was not delivered until the night of Friday to Saturday. destination arrived. As a result, the Argentine Grand Prix was reduced from three to two days.

But after Argentina, the MotoGP paddock immediately traveled to America, where the Red Bull Grand Prix of the Americas will be held next weekend on the Circuit of the Americas in Texas. And whether the devil played a part, which was already feared last weekend – that the transport would have to take place in just a few days and it would go wrong again – became reality on Wednesday.

This time there are technical problems with one of the five charter cargo planes that have departed from the airport in Tucumán, Argentina. Although the first materials have already been delivered to the paddock of the Circuit of the Americas, one plane is experiencing technical problems, two cargo planes arrive late in Austin. The first of these two will arrive on Thursday morning, the second on Thursday afternoon.

The fact that two flights arrive late has to do with the fact that part of the materials had to be transferred to one of the other aircraft. However, the transfer was considerably delayed due to the fact that insufficient staff was available due to corona infections.

In short, it will also be a race against time for a number of MotoGP teams during this American Grand Prix to have everything ready in time for the first free practice sessions on Friday morning. Lucky for us, if everything goes according to plan, the event can start on Friday and we won’t get another soap opera comparable to a week ago at the Autódromo Termas de Río Hondo.

Below is an overview that we just received with a list of the affected MotoGP teams that are still waiting for their equipment or part of the equipment:

  • Monster Yamaha MotoGP: 9 flight cases*
  • Repsol Honda: 6 flight cases
  • Tech3 KTM MotoGP: 4 flight cases
  • WithU RNF Yamaha: 4 flight cases
  • Mooney VR46 MotoGP: 3 flight cases
  • Ducati Lenovo: 3 flight cases
  • Aprilia Racing: 1 flight cases

As far as we know, only the above MotoGP teams are still waiting for the material or part of their material. All Moto3 and Moto2 teams have now received the material and can or have already started building their pit boxes.
