Without the injured Romelu Lukaku, Belgium started the duel with Poland energetically. It was even a small miracle that the Red Devils did not have a quick lead. First it was Michy Batshuayi, who started as striker in the absence of Lukaku, who hit the post. In the rebound, Eden Hazard had the ball for tapping, but the Belgian of Real Madrid shot the ball wide.

Not much later, Batshuayi thought to make the 1-0 for the formation of national coach Roberto Martínez, but this time it was the assistant referee who rightly put a stop to it: offside. In the 28th minute it was finally Robert Lewandowski who gave the Belgians a lesson in effectiveness. He suddenly appeared in front of Simon Mignolet and immediately hit: 0-1.

That lead for Poland was certainly not justified and Belgium put things in order before the break. Axel Witsel shot the ball in beautifully after he got it in front of his feet after Kevin De Bruyne’s attempt: 1-1.

After the break Poland had absolutely nothing left to say. De Bruyne made the 2-1 in the 59th minute on a pass from Hazard. His replacement, Leandro Trossard, then took care of the highlight of the match. After he had already made the 3-1, he curled the ball beautifully into the top corner after a short corner: 4-1.

Just before Vitesse attacker Openda came in, Leander Dendoncker also made it 5-1 with a bang from the distance. The cake was not over yet, because Openda treated itself to a dream debut by setting the final score at 6-1. With that score, Belgium is now, just like Poland, which won the first game 2-1 against Wales, on three points in the Nations League group. The Orange lead in the group with six points after both Belgium (1-4) and Wales (2-1) were defeated.
