Paris Saint-Germain have a problem with transfers

Paris Saint-Germain have started their own revolution. After yet another failure in the Champions League, after yet another elimination in the round of 16 which arrived in a sensational way, the Parisian team wants to relaunch its European ambitions. And to do so he decided to replace Leonardo with Luís Campos, the sporting director who built Lille then champion of France in 2021, snatching Ligue 1 from PSG. With Mauricio Pochettino’s stay on the bench still uncertain, PSG managed to snatch the renewal of Mbappé, covered in gold by Al-Khelaifi, and now they have called Campos to further improve a squad that many would consider difficult to improve. Except that the growth of a team does not only pass from the incoming market, but also from the outgoing one. At the moment, sales are the biggest problem in PSG.

As revealed by L’Équipe, in fact, the list of starters drawn up by Campos is quite long: Mauro Icardi, Leandro Paredes, Julian Draxler, Thilo Kehrer, but also Colin Dagba, Abdou Diallo, Idrissa Gueye and Layvin Kurzawa. Keylor Navas is destined to leave to allow the Parisians to enhance the Donnarumma investment, and Ander Herrera, Danilo Pereira and Georgino Wijnaldum will also leave with him, who arrived last summer with great fanfare but never settled in Ligue 1. The The PSG’s goal is therefore to sell all the players who are not part of the sports project in order to reduce the amount of wages and re-enter the Uefa limits of Financial Fair Play. The outgoing transfer market will therefore be entrusted to Antero Henrique, a Brazilian manager who was formerly of Paris from 2017 to 2019.

However, Henrique’s work seems to be less smooth than expected. If there are players who, in the face of an interesting offer, will have no problems leaving Paris, there are others who do not seem to have any intention of packing their bags: Mauro Icardi has publicly declared that he wants to stay in Ligue 1, even if it is not part of Pochettino’s attack rotations; Leandro Paredes, another redundant from midfield, said that “next season I will see myself again at PSG”, also building on his friendship with Lionel Messi. We are talking about two players who have collected 1000 and 1156 minutes in total in all competitions during the season, who are in fact out of the Parisian sports project, but who have no intention of leaving. A will also shared by others in the locker room, such as Draxler (861 minutes in the season) and Kehrer (1906).

Each of them has a market valuation of around 20 million, and a salary of 2.5 per month. Top club salaries, not easy to find in Europe, which for PSG would mean considerable savings, as well as a gain on the card to be reinvested on the market without compromising the budget, respecting the limits of the FFP. Henrique’s allies could be the next World Cup in Qatar: Icardi, Paredes, Draxler, Kehrer are all in the circle of their national team, and their call-up could be in the balance if they remain at PSG without seeing the field until December, when the match begins. World Cup 2022.
