Matthijs de Ligt has expressed his preference for a switch to Bayern Munich, know Sky Deutschland† It is said to be between Chelsea and of the Rekordmeister in the battle for the signature of the 22-year-old defender, but the latter seems to have an edge. Both the presence of Ryan Gravenberch and Noussair Mazraoui would play a role for De Ligt, as well as the fact that Bayern has been in continuous contact with him for three years. However, there is one stumbling block for the German superpower: the transfer fee that Juventus is asking.
It has been known for a long time that Chelsea has above-average interest in the 38-time Orange international, but BILD added the name of Bayern to the list of concrete clubs on Sunday. The German sports newspaper reported that Juventus wants to see at least eighty million euros for De Ligt, an amount that Sky Deutschland can confirm. Bayern, however, would have difficulty coughing up amounts above sixty million euros without being able to sell itself first. In that context, Chelsea has an advantage.
However, De Ligt himself would rather move to Bayern. The reigning German champions already wanted to bring the mandekker to the Allianz Arena in 2019, but De Ligt preferred a switch to Juventus at the time. The fact that the club has kept in touch all along is said to be testament to the benevolence the stopper is looking for. Moreover, his buddies Mazraoui and Gravenberch – whom he knows from his time at Ajax – are an important factor.
De Ligt, who is still in Turin until mid-2024, has played 117 games for since his arrival the old lady† At Juventus, the stopper was initially attributed a central role in the future of the club, given that Giorgio Chiellini left this summer and Leonardo Bonucci is also quite old. However, the Italian superpower has resigned itself to De Ligt’s wish to leave. Chelsea is anything but hopeless for the Dutchman’s scribble: De Ligt is certainly open to a transfer to England.
