PSV ends training camp with a beating from Arminia Bielefeld | PSV

PSV has concluded the training camp in Mariënfeld with a 4-0 practice defeat against Arminia Bielefeld. Ruud van Nistelrooij’s team disappointed against the team from the Second Bundesliga; especially in the first half it became clear that a lot still needs to be done towards the start of the competition.

No, the friendly match against Arminia Bielefeld was not the best turn for PSV. The German team, which has been relegated to the second level, consisted of a group of physical and experienced players, who will start the competition next week. And PSV? That still has some time, but in the Heidewald stadium in Gütersloh it became clear that there is still a lot of work to be done towards the third qualifying round of the Champions League at the beginning of August.

The start was still nice; after a flashy combination between the new (and old) captain Luuk de Jong and Noni Madueke, Guus Til pushed the ball just wide of the goal. Madueke was already the PSV player who caught the eye the most with a few passing actions, but the British attacker was also unable to make the difference before half-time.

Remarkable goal against

Arminia Bielefeld did, with the help of PSV: Marco van Ginkel played the ball badly and too high back at goalkeeper Walter Benitez, who had no choice but to hit the ball out of his goal. An indirect free kick, which was used by Fabian Klos. The same Klos, a 34-year-old German with more than 150 goals to his name, also took advantage of Joey Veerman’s loss of the ball after half an hour and passed Janni Serra, who completed the ball beautifully.

Debut Simons

PSV went into halftime 2-0 behind, coach Ruud van Nistelrooij then gave Xavi Simons his first unofficial minutes for PSV in the second half. But the great talent that came over from PSG could not turn the tide either. In fact, within ten minutes it was already 3-0 by an own goal by Derrick Luckassen.

After an hour, talents such as Richard Ledezma, Jeremy Antonisse and Mees Kreekels were also allowed to show themselves for a while, but the game image remained the same: Arminia should have made the 4-0 after 65 minutes after a too short return ball from Jenson Seelt, only Silvan Silder pushed the ball past the goal. Just before time, the fourth goal was scored, and how: Noel Niemann shot the ball hard into the goal. And so it ended in 4-0.

A lousy result for PSV, which made little difference. It is the first defeat in the preparation, after a draw against Cercle Brugge (2-2) and a big win against BW Löhne (6-0), which is active at the fifth level in Germany. Next Saturday, Villarreal awaits a new serious test in-house.
