Erling Braut Haaland caused hilarity on Sunday afternoon at his official presentation as a player of Manchester City. The Norwegian star player came up with a quip about playing against arch-rival Manchester United, much to the delight of the English champion’s fans in attendance. Besides Haaland, additions Stefan Ortega and Julían Álvarez were also introduced to the supporters of Manchester City.

Presenter Natalie Pike asked Haaland a question from a Twitter user, who wanted to know which opponent the striker is most looking forward to. The response from the attacker who was taken over from Borussia Dortmund was clear: “I don’t really want to say the words, but Manchester United,” said Haaland, who quickly put a smile on his face. His answer was clearly well received by the supporters of the Citizens† Haaland has already played against Manchester City with Dortmund and so knows roughly what to expect from his new teammates.

“I’ve seen them play on television, but meeting them in real life is something completely different,” admits the multi-million dollar acquisition. “Then I didn’t touch the ball for 25 minutes! I was like, ‘Please Ilkay Gundogan, stop that tiki-taka’. From an attacking point of view, Manchester City are at a lonely height and I want to be part of that.” Haaland also explains why he chose manager Pep Guardiola’s team. “I had that feeling because of the way they play. My feeling for City was very strong right away. There are so many good players around here. They are all winners and the potential is unprecedented. I can’t wait to get started.”

Haaland also immediately says what kind of players the supporters of Manchester City can expect next season: “Someone who laughs a lot, works hard and will enjoy it to the fullest. I have been doing that all my career. I want to enjoy every moment here and want to don’t think too much about everything. Thinking too much is never good. I want to relax when I can and work hard when I have to. As a striker I want to have fun. Fun makes me score and enjoy my game even more. I hope that I laugh a lot here,” Haaland said.
