A London Derby that will reverberate for a long time to come. In Chelsea – Tottenham there was at least as much going on off the pitch as on it. Trainers Thomas Tuchel and Antonio Conte clashed heavily. In the absolute final, Harry Kane ensured a draw.
Antonio Conte has a history at Chelsea. The current Spurs trainer coached the Blues between 2016 and 2018. However, after disappointing results, the board dismissed him.
Conte clearly hadn’t digested that C4 yet. After Hojbjerg’s equalizer – Koulibaly had made it 1-0 with a wonderful volley – the Italian celebrated ostentatiously outside his technical zone. An action that his colleague Tuchel couldn’t help but laugh at. The two ruffs just didn’t fly around each other’s necks.
Tuchel thought he would get his money’s worth when Reece James took care of the 2-1 fifteen minutes. The German sprinted down the sideline to celebrate the goal with Stamford Bridge.
But that celebration came too early. Harry Kane made it 2-2 in the absolute final. Another clinch after the final whistle was inevitable.
After the (brutal) handshake between the two trainers, it completely derailed again between both teams.
