This weekend there are again plenty of matches in the foreign competitions on the program. Several former Ajax players will take action in the coming days. You can follow their performance here!
Saturday 20 August
In the Premier League, the necessary matches with former Ajax players were on the program. This is how Tottenham Hotspur won Davinson Sanchez home with minimal difference to Wolverhampton Wanderers (1-0). Further south from London, Crystal Palace joined, where Jairo Riedewald is under contract against Aston Villa, where Bertrand Traore and Anwar El Ghazi earn their money. However, none of the named players were on the match roster for the clash, which ended in a 3-1 win for Palace.
In Italy seemed Perr Schuurs to make his debut for Torino. The central defender was already in the match selection, but he did not make a debut in the Serie A, during the 0-0 draw with Lazio.
Bayer Leverkusen, with Mitchell Bakker, Timothy Fosu-Mensah and Daley Sinkgraven took on TSG Hoffenheim in the Bundesliga. Of the aforementioned former Ajax players, only Bakker came into action, either as a substitute. He will not like to think back to the duel; it ended in a painful 0-3 loss. In that regard, Union Berlin and in particular Sheraldo Becker a much happier Saturday. In the home game against RB Leipzig, where Solomon Bonnah Under contract, Becker scored, contributing to a 2-1 win. It means a continuation of the excellent start to the season for Union, which is now second after three matches, with seven points.
Arek Milik was a regular fixture at Olympique Marseille last season, but was linked to Manchester United last week and was on the bench in the home game against Nantes. There he saw how his teammates ultimately didn’t need him to secure a 2-1 win.
Turkish national champion Trabzonspor, with Stefano Denswil in the ranks, played an away game against Antalyaspor. That was an exciting game, in which Trabzonspor – with Denswil in the base – fought back from a 2-0 deficit to 2-2. However, in the final phase of the game, the reigning national champion capitulated, so that it eventually went down 5-2.
Friday 19 August
In the French league, the Olympique Lyon played from Nicolas Tagliafico and trainer Peter Bosz against AS Troyes. For Olympique Lyon, it was the second league game of the season, which saw the third game cancelled. Tagliafico could count on a basic place on Friday and they would know that too. Not only did he score, but he also caused a penalty for the opponent. It would not hurt Olympique Lyon, because it won 4-1.
Norwich City also came from Tim Krul in action. His club was in 17th place in the Championship after four matches played. A win in the home game against Millwall – and it came – would therefore come as soon as possible. Krul kept his goal clean and saw his teammates score twice: 2-0.
Finally, Sevilla will also be in action on Friday evening. Nemanja Gudelj’s club plays a home match against Real Valladolid. Sevilla lost 2-1 to Osasuna in the first round of this season.
