Club BruggeDespite an ultimate attempt by AA Gent, Casper Nielsen (28) signed with Club until 2026. Blauw-Zwart pays 5.5 million euros for the Danish midfielder. In the meantime, the national champion is still waiting for AC Milan as far as Charles De Ketelaere is concerned.
The signatures have been made – Casper Nielsen has secured his dream transfer to Club Brugge. After difficult negotiations, blue-black and vice champion Union came to an agreement this weekend, the people of Bruges will pay 5.5 million euros with bonuses. Nielsen wanted to go to Club from day one, but the national champion only wanted to do business directly with the people of Brussels without the involvement of intermediaries. That is why the negotiations – despite the wishes of the player and Club – dragged on for a long time. Nielsen was also able to go to the English Brentford and to AA Gent, which on Saturday tried everything in vain to get the Dane ashore. The midfielder could earn more in Ghent than in Bruges, with whom he wants to play in Denmark’s World Cup selection via the Champions League, among other things.
In the blue-black team, Nielsen has to strengthen the midfield, where Mats Rits, an important basic player, is expected to remain sidelined until New Years. Club seems to be more than sufficiently armed with Balanta, Vormer, Vanaken, Odoi, Mbamba and possibly Sowah and Otasowie. Next weekend Nielsen can make his debut in the opening game against KRC Genk.
Waiting for AC Milan
Another complex transfer case has not yet come to an end. Despite the fact that the fans waved him goodbye to a certain extent, and despite the reports from Italy, there is still no agreement between AC Milan and Club Brugge about Charles De Ketelaere. Club is waiting for a sufficient and competitive offer, which has so far not been received by the board. Let’s see if that changes this week. Blauw-Zwart is willing to cooperate in CDK’s dream transfer, but then the Italian champion has to come up with an appropriate amount – more than the 30 million euros plus bonuses that Italian media report about.
