Lewandowski guides FC Barcelona to a big win, Benzema saves Real in the final phase | NOW

FC Barcelona booked a convincing victory in La Liga on Sunday. Thanks in part to two goals from Robert Lewandowski, substitute Frenkie de Jong’s team was 4-0 too strong for Real Valladolid. Karim Benzema saved Real Madrid from losing points in the final phase: 1-3.

From the kick-off, FC Barcelona was the dominant party in Camp Nou and that almost led to the 1-0 in the opening phase. Lewandowski towered over Real Valladolid’s defenses, but his effort hit the post. Ousmane Dembélé also hit the aluminum with a long shot.

After 24 minutes of play, it was still 1-0. A turning cross by Raphinha ended up at the far post and Lewandowski was able to put his foot against it. On the stroke of half-time, Pedri crowned FC Barcelona’s strong first half with the 2-0. He simply shot in after a good pass from Dembélé.

Lewandowski nicely made the 3-0 halfway through the second half. The Polish striker chopped the ball in with some luck after another assist from Dembélé. With that, the attacker made his fourth league goal of the season, making him co-top scorer in La Liga for the time being. In stoppage time, Sergi Roberto determined the final score at 4-0.

De Jong started on the bench and came in the lines at FC Barcelona in the 61st minute. The club hopes to sell the midfielder in the final days of the transfer market. That is no longer necessary to be able to register Jules Koundé for La Liga. Koundé was registered for the Spanish League earlier in the day and completed the ninety minutes. Memphis Depay, who still hopes to leave, was on the bench for the entire game.

Real Madrid can still boast of the maximum score after three rounds of play. The winner of the Champions League won a visit to Espanyol by late hits from Benzema with 1-3.

The start of coach Carlo Ancelotti’s team in the RCDE Stadium in Barcelona was excellent. Brazilian attacker Vinícius scored in the twelfth minute after a clever through pass by Aurélien Tchouaméni.

Espanyol, who took only one point in the first two games, showed resilience and surprisingly came alongside on the stroke of half-time. Joselu was initially kept from scoring by Thibaut Courtois, but the experienced striker scored in the rebound.

The home team also held up excellently in the second half, until Benzema showed his class once again in the 88th minute. The 34-year-old Frenchman escaped the attention of the defense and shot from close range from a cross by Rodrygo.

It didn’t stop there, as Benzema struck again in the ninth minute of injury time. From a free kick he outwitted field player Leandro Cabrera, who was forced to put on the goalkeeper gloves, because goalkeeper Benjamin Lecomte had been shown red just before.

Real Madrid, along with Real Betis, are the only team that has not lost points in La Liga. The Madrilenians are in the lead thanks to a better goal difference (+6 to +5). FC Barcelona and Villarreal follow with seven points from three matches.
